MoFo #9 - Radical Eats in Houston, TX

This will be my last post about the vegan vendors at the Richmond Avenue farmers' market. The last booth I visited was the Radical Eats booth. I called the restaurant on Friday to see if I could use a local deal coupon to shop at the farmers' market. The owner Staci said that no one had asked that before, but she said it would be OK. I appreciated that, since I had already paid for the coupon and the restaurant is a bit of a drive from my house. It felt like getting free food, which is pretty awesome. I asked for one package of each type of tamale and one of each soup. This means I got 2 corn and spinach tamales, 2 breakfast tamales (tofu scramble in the middle!), 2 black bean and chipotle tamales, 1 Texas chili, and 1 Tom Kha Gai soup. Don't laugh at my tamale photos, it's hard to make them look pretty. I'm intrigued to have the Tom Kha Gai soup for lunch tomorrow. It has eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, brussel sprouts, coconut milk, lemongrass, ginger, jalapenos, vegetable stock, and Braggs. I think I'll cook up the leftover silken tofu (from the calzones) and some quinoa to make a whole lunch. The chili was perfect earlier this week when I sat outside in the shade with my coworkers. A little breeze made it feel cool outside and it was so good to have a hot lunch with a little spicy kick. If you're in Houston, Radical Eats also does a Sunday all-you-can-eat brunch for $15 with drinks.

  1. I went recently and it was quite good. I wish the breakfast tamale was on the buffet when I went because it is SO good. I love tofu scramble and I love tamales, but I never would have thought to put those two together. nom nom nom
