Mirliton & White Bean Stew
This is another recipe that I made before MoFo started. This stew used mirlitons, also known as chayote squash. I've seen these little green things at the Fiesta market many times before, but I had no idea how to cook them. One day I decided to just go for it and search for recipes using them. I found this stew recipe and decided to give it a try. It was OK. I didn't use the dulse. I added a bunch of hot sauce. Probably wouldn't make this again, but I'm proud of myself for trying something new. The mirlitons had a texture like a firm pear, but didn't have a strong flavor.
