I recently received a package from a friend in Tallahassee, Ashley. She's an inspiration! She sent me a Pyrex bowl and some saucer plates. The bowl will be used to plant some grass for the kitties in the new place and I'm not sure what to do with the saucers. I know I can buy more pieces on ebay, but I haven't decided if I want the whole set or just some white cups to go on the plates.
When I came home for Christmas, I got a cookbook called "How to Cook Everything Vegetarian" from my sister, plus a slow cooker. My mom got me a rice cooker. After reading Ashley's blog about making bread and having some recipes in the cookbook, I needed a bread pan. I found a purple one at Goodwill for just $3. I also got a small white sherbet dish that I plan to use for something nice-smelling or a candle, but I forgot to get a photo of it. It has a little lacey edge.
I also organized the stuff I got from my Memaw at Thanksgiving. I got some Depression glass. After looking in some books from the library, I think the pieces might be by Fenton. They were made during the 30's. I got the glasses on the left and the sherbets in the middle. I found the smaller glass on ebay.
I was fortunate enough to get some topaz stuff as well. I think it will look nice on an antique vanity dresser one day. There's a candy dish, a bowl, and another bowl that could hold candles (it has 5 small holes on the inside ring). The first two I haven't yet identified. But the second bowl is made by Fenton, it's stamped on the bottom.
And finally... I went to a local antique shop just to look around their stuff. I got the Mayfair Open Rose pitcher and cookie jar. I identified the pitcher as an original but the cookie jar is a reproduction. The differences include the color, the stems, and the clusters within the flowers' centers.
